I have often heard a Chinese idiom that says, "Gold and beauty can be found through reading books." In other words, the idiom acknowledges the importance and benefit of studying through books, which reveals many treasures for the reader. Life is a learning process; people learn as they grow. Any situation can be an opportunity to learn and gain life experience.
I remember when I was still in school. It was quite a learning experience. The joy (and pain) of studying was the moment when test results were being announced. Like other students, when I received good grades, I felt very happy and excited, but if I received a poor mark, I would be devastated and upset. This is a very common response because everybody likes to compare themselves with others. I do the same thing.
When my reason for studying was for good grades, they actually added to my pressure. With such a burden, how could I possibly achieve good grades? Nevertheless, learning can be a pleasurable experience. With a right attitude when studying, grades will improve. Moreover, when I pray and trust in the Lord, even taking seven different courses in one semester, I will still be full of joy and peace.
On many occasions during exam time, I caught the flu. Brothers and sisters in the church prayed for me every week during prayer meetings. Because of this, I was strengthened to keep trusting the Lord and not worry about the test results. Surprisingly, the exam questions were exactly the materials that I had studied, and the results were satisfactory. I was in school because I wanted to learn more, but true knowledge and wisdom come from God, just as the Bible says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge" (Proverbs 1 ¡G 7).
Life contains many circumstances that are impossible to understand! But trust in the grace of the Lord, and everything would be simple and peaceful. Think about it ¡G if a person has a successful career and lots of knowledge, but has not good health, then everything would be meaningless. For this reason, I especially am thankful for the Lord's gracious love.
The Lord has given us the ability to learn, so let us take this opportunity to enlighten ourselves because we may never get another chance to do so. For those who are still studying in school, I pray that you will live under the grace of God and work hard to glorify the name of Lord Jesus Christ.
