The Aspect of Anger

By Francis Loo Translated by Evie Xiao

God has made man with two eyes, two ears but one month. Is it not intended that we should see more, hear more and speak less? The key to live happily is "patient". How often you were provoked by small things not coming your way, such as the bus didn't arrive in time, the traffic slowed your car to a snail's speed while you were in a hurry to an important meeting, your friend failed to keep an appointment or turned up late and countless other circumstances you may recall. You mustn't let small stuff drive you crazy, but learn ways to calm down in the midst of your incredibly hurried, stress-filled life. Let's see what the Bible says in this regard:

Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. (Ecclesiastes 7:9, NIV.)

A quick-tempered man does foolish things.... (Proverbs 14:17, NIV.)

A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel. (Proverbs 15:18, NIV.)

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. (Proverbs 15:1, NIV.)

A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to him glory to overlook an offense. (Proverbs 19:11, NIV.)

My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. (James 1:19, 20, NIV.)

Now we may have learnt to refrain from sweating on small stuff. Would it be even more difficult (oftentimes we would feel most helpless) in adverse situations when we had to make our personal decisions: life-and-death, honor or money? These situations could be loss of loved ones, unemployment at mid-carrier, suffering from poor health, new business Adventures, and bankruptcy etc. These are some of the important crossroads of life at which we do not know for sure to which direction we should begin a foot?

If any of you, lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5, NIV.)

... He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths.... (Isaiah 2:3, NIV.)

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. (Psalm 32:8, NIV.)

To the man who pleases him, God give wisdom, knowledge and happiness...." (Ecclesiastes 2:26, NIV.)

I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me." (Psalm 16:7, NIV.)

Then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright; he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless . (Proverb 2; 5-7, NIV.)

By exercising prudently all our skills in the full knowledge of the issue in the process of decision-making in life is not complete for any Christian who does not pray for guidance and seek God's will that is His moral will and sovereign will. In every situation , we are free to make our decisions, but we are never free from God. We have to learn to make our decisions in submission to the sovereign will of God. The way to submission to God's sovereign will is through prayer–total surrender to His guidance. Any decisions thusly made on things we do will be the right decisions without regret. If a Christ-centered life is like a ship, our prayers are like the tickets to that ship. We will not be boarding the ship without first procuring the necessary boarding pass that gives authenticity to the trip.

Love One Another

Music and Lyric: Mandy Lau

Watching the snow falling, I can't help but start thinking of you
Those words in my heart, do you hear them? They are as heavy as before
We might meet every day, but we don't take the time to interact
Without knowing, we grow further and further apart

Every new exploration, we work at it step by step
In the midst of rush and busyness, how do we encourage each other?

If only we can switch positions and search for the deepest thoughts inside one another
If only we can give a sincere look and try to understand the bits and pieces
When given a chance, is anyone willing to change and reach out?
God's law will be fulfilled, when we love one another

Our roles and responsibilities keep changing as time moves on
Deep down, I miss hearing your voice; it is as distant as before
Every day I hope to see you, to be able to lean on you
But if I don't tell, would you ever know this?
Every step of the exploration, if you are there
Then even if I get tired and hurt, there won't be sadness

Let's switch positions today and search for the real needs of one another
Let's look at each other from a new perspective and help erase any hurt inside
The love that seems so distant and out of reach
If someone's willing to change, everyone will start to feel it
God's law will be fulfilled, when we love one another
