LEARNING GOLFING WITH THE BIBLE
Written by John Lam

1. When one plays a bad game in one hole, always remember this verse: "One thing I do: Forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead." (Philippians 3:13)

2. "There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under Heaven." (Ecclesiastes 3:1) -------

A time to golf; and a time not to golf.If your stocks crashed, don't golf;
If you can't keep your mind off your loved one in the hospital, don't golf!

3. Don't compare your golf scores with others. "God has allotted to each a measure of faith. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given us, let each exercise them accordingly. " (Romans 12:3, 6a)

4. You ain't got a thing, if you don't know how to swing! In golfing, brute force or frantic move makes things worse. "Cease striving and know that I am God." (Psalm 46:10)

5. The golf ball follows the laws of Physics: it rolls faster or slower according to the slope ofthe green. Cursing or swearing do not help!

"All the rivers flow into the sea, yet the sea is not full." (Ecclesiastes 1:7a)

6. "Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." (Proverbs 27:17) Play golf with a good player. You can learn a lot from each other.

7. Make friends with wise men.Play golf with them. "He who walks with wise men will be wise." (Proverbs 13:20a)

8. Golfing rules on the green: No talking! It's distracting. "When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable." (Proverbs 10:19a)

9. "Do not associate with a man given to anger; or go with a hot-tempered man." (Proverbs 22:24) Next time don't play golf with him!

10. Display of frustration is one thing, but outburst of temper is quite another. Don't make a fool of your self by yelling, screaming, throwing the club in the air, etc. "A fool always loses his temper, but a wise man holds it back." (Proverbs 29:11)
