Ray C. Stedman

(STEDMAN, Adventure Through The Bible, P15).

Standard Method of Measurement
Written by Francis Loo

The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors published in Surveyors Times (August 2017 VOL.26 NO.08) the subject article, which draws my attention. Undoubtedly, this is the important concern of the construction industry. All related professionals would like to ensure the practice of up-keeping the current Standard Method of Measurement in line with advancement of changes in technical and construction methods. The current Standard revised since the year 2005 needs to be reviewed for another up-date to world professional standard once more. This practice is continual in the years to come.

While reflecting on scientific advancement and changes in the past two decades, we seem to have the privilege of direct and easy access to all sorts of information through multi-media—the flip side is moral attitudes being compromised. Within the so called "democracy", the legislature can legalize immorality for those who shouted the loudest used to get the final say. Political correct!

As a result, morality could be modified to suit the desire of society all the more conforming to the urge of the post-modern world standard. When and if we chance to sit back to ponder in solitude, we may ask if there is any Standard Method of Measurement that is ever up-to-date—no revision or changes required in time.

"Yea"—in my faith I believe we have the answer. Jesus Christ says, "I have come that they [humanity] may have life, and have it to the full (John10:10b). The holy Standard Method of Measurement is set in the entire Bible. To study and correctly interpreting or understanding the Scripture we need the grace of the Holy Spirit, which is the key, which aids us to open every door to the Scripture.

Ray C. Stedman states it well:

\The Bible clearly transcends all human documents; it is greater than anything human beings could produce. Despite the tremendous diversity of human authorship and the vast span of time over which it was written, this Book [the Bible] has one message, tells one storey, moves to one point, and directs our attention to one Person [Jesus Christ]. It would simply be impossible to take at random any collection of books from literature, put them together under one cover, and have any remotely related theme develop. Such a collection is possible only if behind its many human authors there is one transcendent author. . . ." (STEDMAN, Adventure Through The Bible, P15).

Paul wrote to Timothy explaining:

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Jesus comforted the disciples and said: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. . . I am going there [my Father's home) to prepare a place for you. . . ." (John 14:1-2). Then Thomas said to Jesus: "Lord, we don't know where you are goings so how can we know the way?"

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John: 14 5-6).

Jesus Christ is the way, and the truth and the life that is the Standard Method of Measurement. It never changes.

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work (Ephesians 4:11-16). [Amen.]
