『The Spelling and the pronunciation are not highly important. What is important is to keep it clear that this is a personal name. There are several texts that cannot be properly understood if we translate this name by a common noun like 'Lord' or much worse by a substantivized adjective [for example, the Eternal].』
1976 Good News Bible (GNB): The Bible in Today English Version
1966年，非洲和亞洲的非英語讀者要求一本簡單易讀的英語譯本，【美國聖經公會】先出版了意譯本【馬可福音】，反應良好，便出版了整本【新約】Good News for Modern Man: The New Testament in Today's English Version。1976 年出版【新舊約】Good News Bible: The Bible in Today's English Version。
1995 年，【美國聖經公會】出版另一本 Contemporary English Version，也是一部簡單英語譯本，與 Good News Bible 並駕齊驅。2001 年， Good News Bible: The Bible in Today's English Version 改名 Good News Translation (GNT)，以免意譯本 paraphrase 的形象會影響銷量，並大眾化在超市發售。
此譯本序言說：『神獨特的希伯來名字，一般音譯 Jehovah，但此譯本將以『LORD』代替，

1979年【現代中文譯本修訂版】
由聯合聖經公會(United Bible Society) 發起，主要負責人是許牧世、駱維仁、周聯華、王成章、焦明五位，以以上的 Today's English Version(後改稱 Good News Bible)爲藍本，由原文翻譯。再由聯合聖經公會以【給現代人的福音】為名出版。1995 年出版【現代中文譯本修訂版】。此譯本沒有『耶和華』的名。

1979年【當代譯本】(Chinese Contemporary Bible)
此譯本 Biblica 2010 年的出品 www.biblica.com，對象是語文程度屬第七班或以上的讀者。Biblica 的前身是 1809 年成立的紐約聖經公會(New York Bible Society)，之後曾改名多次，包括 New York City Bible Society (1828 年), New York Bible Society International (1971 年), New York International Bible Society (1974 年), International Bible Society (IBS) (1988 年)等，後來在 2002 年與 Living Bibles International 合併，2007 年又與 Send The Light (STL)合併而改名爲 IBS-STL，2009 年又改為 Biblica。Biblica 支持和籌劃多個聖經翻譯項目，其中包括 New International Version (NIV)。詩篇23篇：『耶和華是我的牧者。』

The NKJV translation project was conceived by Arthur Farstad，130 biblical scholars, pastors, and theologians.

1985 Schocken Bible
這是第一本譯本，把希伯來原文神的四個輔音【四字神名 Tetragrammaton יהרה】原封不動的放回聖經裡，不把名字音譯 Jehovah 或 Yahweh，任由讀者以他們的發音呼喚。之後，陸續有譯本這樣做，以拉丁字母 YHWH 迄今已有大約十三本。
1989 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
1870 年英美兩國合作修訂 1611 年的【英皇欽定本】King James Version (KJV)。1885 年，英國出版了 Revised Version (RV)，或稱 English Revised Version (ERV) 。1901 年，美國出版 The American Revision，後來簡稱 American Standard Version (ASV)， ASV 把 Jehovah 名字全數回歸到聖經裡，出現 5,791 次。
