Little by little -- a testimony from Nikki

Written by Nikki Translated by Naomi

First all, I want to thank God. I thank him for giving me this opportunity to share with everybody. I have been longing for this chance for a while. I am an international student from mainland China. When I was about 5 years old, my Grandma took me to a Catholic church once a while. She was not a Christian at the time. However, she made me to have a good impression towards Christianity. I still remember the scene of people praying. It was very holy.

It was not until I graduated from high school that I read the Bible for the first time in my life. I felt the Bible was very different from the other books. When I opened the Bible, I suddenly felt very peaceful. I knew I was experiencing a miracle. The Bible was from a close friend of my Mum. She sent it to my Mum as a gift. I thanked her a lot for preaching the gospel to my Mum.

Later, I came to Vancouver for my postsecondary education at the end of 2009. I then had another chance to know the Lord more. In the beginning of 2010, the house parents of my homestay took their children and me to their church for a choir. I liked my experience in a small group study there. I enjoyed the warm feeling when people asked questions about the Bible. I liked them when they prayed before and after the group studies.

I didn't live with my homestay for long. I moved to another house a few months later. In the new house, I met a school sister from my hometown. Because of her invitation, I went to a Christmas dinner in Willingdon Church. I joined a group of Chinese Christians there. I was deeply touched by the sermon of the Pastor there.

After I started my second semester in Vancouver, I met a lot of difficulties because of school and interpersonal relationships. After a conflict with my roommate, I felt very lonely and depressed. I opened my Bible and turned to God. The next day was a Sunday. I went to an early morning service in Church. After that, I started to attend Sunday services and student fellowships regularly. I joined difference classes for new believers. Every time I attended those classes, I could experience God's presence. I got a lot of strength from God because of the classes. A few days before I turned to be a 20 year old, I prayed to Jesus to accept him as my personal Lord and savior.

Last year, I went back home during the summer vacation. I discovered that my Mum made a few more close friends. Among them, there was a faithful Christian sister. I thanked God for his perfect timing. He made my Mum to attend church services with that Christian sister. When I was about to leave for Vancouver, I met my Auntie on a family gathering. I hadn't seen her for 2 years. She had become Christian by then. According to my memory, she was very easy to get angry. She had changed a lot when I met her in the gathering. I know it was God who gave her wisdom to control her temper. She had become a very gentle and polite person. She told me that she would pray for me every day. I was very touched by her.

When I think about my life now, I feel it is not full of wonders. However, God's love has filled my life little by little. Step by step, his plan is fulfilled during all these years. These a few weeks, with the help from my Pastor, we started a Bible study group in my University. I hope I can contribute a little to help more people knowing God's truth. Glorify the name of Jesus Christ. Halleluiah!
