Seeing the Unseen
Written by Francis Loo, Translated by Naomi
How can we see the unseen?
The answer to this conundrum lies in the hearts of the steadfast disciples. It's a pilgrim's progress in this world till he or she meets with Christ Jesus.
Our Lord Jesus once asked a certain ruler that he should sell everything he had and follow Him But he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth. Jesus looked at him and said:
"How hard it is for the rich to enter the Kingdom of GOD. Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God. Those who heard this asked, 'Who then can be saved?'
Jesus replied, 'What is impossible with man is possible with God.'"(Gospel Luke 18:18-27, NIV.)
In the above message, Jesus is admonishing his disciples with the view to grooming them spiritually for entry to His Kingdom. Jesus says He is "the way, the truth and the life"—that is, the Kingdom of God has come . Therefore, walking with Him, ultimately, all truly steadfast believers will be pursuing victoriously with joy in life through means unseen in the secular world.
King David's counsel to his son Solomon recorded in 1 Chronicles 28:9: "Know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind."
Be prepared to know God is the first thing in life. If we prepare our hearts for seeking the true God, He will be found with unbelievable wonder. This is called faith in Christianity.
What is meant by faith in Jesus Christ?
Faith is simple--just simply believe and trust Jesus Christ the true God. In our intimacy with God, the Holy Spirit would protect us from temptation and give us joy to overcoming hardship, being perseverance, taking sorrow lightly and having the strength to victoriously overcome temptation, and developing good character; last but not least, the joy of knowing more and more about God's complete providence in our life.
Many believers have testimonies and my personal experience with God have proven to me; when we have believed and trusted God in midst of adverse situations supernatural power entered our lives. Then, the Holy Spirit would make us strong. Although the situation may even become worse or remain unchanged, our strength is unfailing from our Lord.
Let's look at what the Bible say about "faith"?
• Faith is being sure of what God will permit is the best for us, although future things are invisible. (Hebrews 11:1, NIV.)
• Faith is to believe God will provide for those who rely on Him. (Hebrews 11:6, NIV.)
• Faith is to look to God for wisdom. When one asks for wisdom, one must believe in God without doubt. (James 1:5, 6, NIV.)
• Faith is by grace, not by your good deed. (Ephesians 2:8, NIV.)
• Faith is courage and strength. (1 Corinthians 16:13, NIV.)
• Faith is one of the spiritual fruits: joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Galatians 5:22, NIV.)
• We live by faith, not by sight. (2 Corinthians 5:7. NIV.)
• Faith in God can even move your "mountain." (Mark 11:22, 23, NIV.)
Faith is a gift from God and through faith we have been saved. However, we are living in this secular world--a world full of temptation: lust, power, money and jealousy and so on. We are subjected to sinful bombardment in this world day by day. We are being weakened spiritually. Only if we are willing to live by faith in Jesus Christ, and confess our sins (all sorts of wrongs) and let Him lead our way of life regardless and count it all joy, then it is possible for us to enter and see the Kingdom of God--enjoying life in abundance and in peace, thus arriving at a state of seeing the unseen.
Let us pray --
Heavenly father, We know by faith you have saved us. Thank you for your grace given to us and our families. We know that it is not easy for us not to face temptation in this world--the world we can see and feel with our senses. But we believe, Lord, because of your loving kindness, you will lead our way and protect us. Give us strength and assure our faith in you, Lord, so that we can see the unseen Kingdom of God.
In the name of Jesus Christ we pray,
Amen.
