Blessed Are The Obedient--A Testimony From Tom Lin

Written by Tom Lin     Translated by Naomi

I believed the almighty God would not disappoint us. Many people thought I was insane, but I knew God would not forsake us. I told my Mum, “Your days on earth are not over.” We should pray together for God’s healing power, so we could become God’s witness in the future. She finally agreed to pray for divine healing. We were proclaiming God’s victory together. And then, something like an electric current transformed from my hands to my Mum’s head. She felt her head was very warm. Praise the Lord! God is able! I was sincerely hoping that was God’s healing power.

When we were busy because of looking for a caregiver, God reminded us to trust our doctors. We openly shared the situation of my Mum so that the doctors could make right decisions. I also felt that my Mum was slowly recovering. I planed to get her further examinations. We hoped to figure out what to do next. I then took my mum to Taipei Veterans General Hospital again. According to all records, the doctor told us that my Mum could live maximum one year. The doctor suggested us to plan ahead for future. However, cancer patient was no longer qualified for hiring a caregiver. The doctor decided to take another MRI in order to get more details from my Mum. He would give us more advices after that.

After heard the report, we were depressed. We left the hospital. My Mum told me that she was ready for anything. Her facial expression made me very sad. I prayed to God. I asked him to give my Mum a few years more. I asked him to bless my Mum with joy and health. God gives, and he takes away. God had a plan for my Mum’s days on earth. I asked the Lord not to take my Mum away right now. I prayed to the Lord for blessing her a joyful life. And then, if the Lord took her away, she would leave us with a cheerful mind. I took courage to keep praying for my Mum. My Mum and I continuously believed in Christ. Praise the Lord! The MRI smoothly operated. It took only four days for us to complete the whole process from registration to final report. The report was ready one day before my flight to Canada. Therefore, I did have time to decide if I would leave for Canada or not.

On the day of checking the report, we reached the hospital around 11am. It took long time before my Mum could meet our doctor. We didn’t have much appetite. However, I took my Mum for lunch anyway. We did not enjoy our food because we were worry about the report. We encouraged each other, and we reminded ourselves for the hope in Christ. (We had received a call from the doctor. We were told our precious MRI had some problems. We took a new MRI the day after. May be the doctor did not find anything from my Mum’s MRI, so they needed a new one?)

Our time for doctor’s appointment was at 1pm. We entered clinic to settle down. Our doctor checked the record from his computer. He took a close look of all the records. He asked us, “Are you taking some steroid drugs nowadays?”I replied him, “We had 5 days of steroid drugs, and then we stopped taking it.” “How come?!”, our Doctor was amazed, “The tumour is gone.”She looked at the records again. “Even the steroid drugs do not have such effect.”, she said, “Was it an infection? It didn’t look like an infection at all. That is strange.” “Praise the Lord! Halleluiah! God has healed my Mum!”, I told the Doctor. She was smiling. She looked at me as I was telling her a fairly tale. She was searching an appropriate respond. And then, she asked us to visit her 3 months later. “If there is not any other problem at that time, you should be considered as fully recovered.” God listened to our prayers. He is faithful. I praise his name. My Mum and I were so exciting to leave the hospital. I sent a text message to my elder brother. After we were home, our friends and families from Taiwan and U.S. called us for more details. Our brothers and sisters in Christ were also very happy to know the good news. “Did they make a mistake?”, “What did you eat?”, “That is great!”, “Praise the Lord!”, many people were surprised. My Mum happily told them, “Yes, God has healed me. Now, I have to believe in his healing power.”

According to Mark 11:22-24, Jesus answered: “Have faith in God. Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Next day, Mum shared her testimony with sisters in church. Praise the Lord and his mighty power. Praise the Lord for giving her a new life! Yes, the power of God is great. It is so real that no one can deny it. His healing made us experience the teachings of Jesus Christ. The stories in Bible became alive in our life. I need to express my gratitude towards my brothers and sisters in church. I truly appreciate their prayers for my Mum. Through my journey, I have learned that we need to do what we are called for, which is praying to the Lord with faith. God would do what he needs to do, performing miracles. (The End)
